A lot of my time is spent working on how colors express the lights and shadows in my art. That’s because I know the only way to interpret the natural beauty of a scene onto a canvas is through using precise lighting values.

The rich qualities of oil paints make them both forgiving and enchanting. I can paint, wipe off, paint again, and build up many layers of texture. With oils, I can paint with a brush or apply with a palette knife to achieve the exact design I want.

I paint landscapes because I feel there is no better subject than God’s own creation. The natural scenes of landscapes provide me with an infinite and always unfolding exciting variety of subject matter. I can count on nature to constantly present something new to paint. The challenge to my artist’s eye is to capture the perfect moment and enshrine it in oil paint on canvas.  

My goal is to paint in a realistic technique so as to entice a viewer to come close to see the details and nuances of the painting. I want to create a “Wow” experience. One where viewers imagine themselves in the scene as they get lost in the emotion of the moment and fall in love with the painting and how it makes them feel.
