Peaceful Realism is my style of realistic oil painting. It reflects the way I see and paint the world around me, with careful attention to color, light, and the beauty found in everyday life.
The "peaceful" part isn't about painting only quiet subjects. It's about what I hope the finished painting gives you: a reason to pause, look a little closer, and perhaps experience some of the peace, comfort, and joy I felt while creating it.
What inspires Debra Davis's Peaceful Realism paintings?
What inspires me can be different every day. I've always loved color, so sometimes it's a color that catches my eye. Other times it's light across a field, flowers in a garden, an old barn, an interesting shape, or something familiar that I suddenly see differently.
Painting has taught me to look more closely and notice beauty in things that are easily overlooked or forgotten. My faith is part of that. I believe my ability to paint is a gift from God, and painting has deepened my gratitude for His creation.
I don't need to make ordinary things beautiful. The beauty is already there. Sometimes we just need a gentle reminder to notice it.
That's what inspires my Peaceful Realism paintings and what I hope others discover in them, too.

I'm based in Cusseta, Alabama, near Auburn/Opelika. Living in this part of Alabama gives me plenty to notice, from rural landscapes and country roads to changing light and seasons. My original oil paintings are available to collectors locally and throughout the United States.

Are Debra Davis paintings original??
Yes. Every painting I offer is an original work of art painted by me using traditional oil painting techniques. There is only one original of each painting. Every brushstroke, color choice, and decision you see in the finished piece was made by me as I worked.
Do Debra Davis paintings come framed?
Some paintings are framed and others are offered unframed. I'll always include that information with the individual painting so you know exactly what you're purchasing. If you have a question about the frame or how a painting might work in your home, just ask. I'm happy to help.
Do you ship original oil paintings?
Yes. I ship original oil paintings within the United States. I carefully package each painting so it is protected on its way to its new home. Shipping details and any applicable costs will be provided with the artwork or during the purchase process.
Can I see more photographs of a painting before I purchase it?
Of course. I know looking at an original painting online isn't quite the same as standing in front of it. If you'd like close-up photographs, additional views, or more information about the color, texture, frame, or anything else, please contact me. I want you to feel comfortable with what you're choosing for your home.
Does Debra Davis accept commissions?
I occasionally accept commissioned oil paintings when the subject feels like a good fit for my work and Peaceful Realism. If you have something in mind, send me a message and tell me about it. With proper care, an original oil painting can be enjoyed for generations. Keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and extreme changes in temperature.
